Curriculum Project
November 2020 - January 2021
In the consulting industry, each situation is unique and requires a specific set of solutions. For this project, I helped my client define the ideal outcomes for designing a more learner-centered course, and through strategic planning and implementation of learning theory and instructional design principles, we were able to achieve a great end result.
AECT Rubric Evaluation
AECT 1.3
Candidates demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate the effective integration of appropriate technologies and instructional materials.
The curriculum plan seeks to make instructional design changes to a course based on research based best practices.
AECT 2.1
Candidates apply content pedagogy to create appropriate applications of processes and technologies to improve learning and performance outcomes.
Using learning theory, instructional design models, and the QM standards rubric for higher education, the curriculum project integrates pedagogical changes to the course structure when making changes to the course content was not an option.
AECT 3.2
Candidates make professionally sound decisions in selecting appropriate processes and resources to provide optimal conditions for learning based on principles, theories, and effective practices.
The curriculum plan identified gaps in the course structure that could be improved using processes based on the principles of how people learn and industry standard and research-based best practice.
AECT 4.4
Candidates design and implement assessment and evaluation plans that align with learning goals and instructional activities.
The learning goals and instructional activities presented in this curriculum project are stated clearly and a record is kept of the progress towards those goals.
ISTE-C Rubric Evaluation
ISTE 7-A
Inspire and encourage educators and students to use technology for civic engagement and to address challenges to improve their communities.
This curriculum plan demonstrates ways to improve the learning community by creating a clear course navigational structure that makes student engagement with the materials a logical consequence of moving through the course.
ISTE 4-A
Collaborate with educators to develop authentic, active learning experiences that foster student agency, deepen content mastery, and allow students to demonstrate their competency.
The curriculum plan includes evidence-based practices for organizing a virtual learning environment that facilitates real-world learning
ISTE 6-C
Partner with educators to empower students to use learning data to set their own goals and measure their progress.
This project is a partnership with an educator that uses evidence of student engagement to set goals about how to improve that engagement and how to know if our efforts are fruitful.
